Bruxa Boa Holistic Policy and Procedures

Late Policy:

At Bruxa Boa Holistic, we understand unanticipated events happen. The unforeseen and unexpected obstacles, such as family emergencies, traffic considerations, business meetings, and health issues, are just a few reasons why a client might be late or consider canceling an appointment. In consideration of the therapist's and client's time alike, Bruxa Boa Holistic has the following policies and procedures in place:

  • All body-work service time begins from the moment hands are on the body. Client is guaranteed 60, 90 or 120 minutes of hands-on time, based on the scheduled appointment. To assure ample time to discuss your healing needs, please arrive 10 minutes early before your first scheduled appointment for an intake consultation and changing.
  • For on-going treatments, please arrive 5 minutes early for your “check-in” consultation. Session begins at the scheduled time. Your therapist allows no more than a 5-minute grace period for changing and consultation. Service will end no later than five minutes after the allotted time has ended.
  • Late arrivals will not receive extension of scheduled appointments. The original appointment fee will be charged in full.
  • If a client is excessively late to a scheduled appointment, the next appointment's charge is due at time of scheduling. If the client chooses to reschedule or cancel 24 hours before their appointment, client will receive a full refund.

Cancelation Policy:

24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule. If the client fails to cancel within a 24-hour notice, client will be asked to pay for the session and pre-pay for future services. Pre-paid appointments are non-refundable and non-transferable after the 24-hour mark has passed.

Client/Therapist Communication:

  • Therapists will adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, etc. If client requests to focus on an area of the body, or move on, the therapist will oblige.
  • Client may choose to undress to their level of comfort. They may refuse any therapeutic methods or stop the session at any time.
  • The client will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped.
  • Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and therapist will not be tolerated and is grounds for an immediate end to the session. If the client makes any lude or inappropriate discussion, innuendos, gestures, or requests, the session will end and the client will pay in full or risk being reported for misconduct.

Existing and New Medical Conditions:

It is the responsibility of the client to keep their therapist informed of any medical issue, or medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that bodywork may continue. The client must also keep the therapist informed of any changes in health conditions. For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies, please note that we require a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.

Confidentiality and Conversation:

Client visits and conditions as confidential. As such, we will not discuss your visit with anybody outside of our staff without your express permission.

Scope of Practice

Licensed Massage Therapists, Ayurvedic Nutritionists, and Herbalists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions. Our therapists may suggest alternative remedies, herbs, mediations, or exercises but the client must speak with their medical doctor for diagnosis or treatment, as well as to understand any contraindications to medication or professional medical advice. Bruxa Boa Holistic services are not intended to replace proper medical attention for specific conditions. Our services are to supplement and integrate healing and preventative practices. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment. Always consult your physician when integrating any new mental or physical health practices, supplements, herbs, stretches, or exercises, etc.

Bruxa Boa Holistic therapists are Illinois licensed professionals and held to the highest standards of the American Massage Therapy Association. Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques and may apply integrative therapies with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.
